O’Loughlin Gaels defeated St Lachtain’s in the Shaws Department Store Intermediate Camogie League Round 3 match played in sunny St John’s Park on Monday evening last

Aisling Butler opened the scoring with a point from play for O’Loughlin Gaels. Butler added another point from a free in the 3rd minute. The homeside was settling into the match much quicker than St Lachtain’s

Aoife Shealy then scored a beautiful point for O’Loughlins on the run. Laura Murphy slotted over two points for the homeside to lead 0-5 to 0-0

Lydia Fitzpatrick opened St Lachtain’s account with a pointed free before Saoirse Davis added a second point for the visitors

From the puckout, an unmarked Laura Greene fielded the sliotar and ran towards the oppositions goal, splitting the posts with a fine point

In the 13th minute, Laura Greene blocked a shot from a St Lachtain’s midfielder and she turned and slotted over a point for O’Loughlins

Aoife Shealy added to her tally after the sliotar was played into the corner, Aoife rounded her marker and ran at speed towards the goal and tapped the ball over the bar

The two Laura’s (Murphy & Greene) added two more points for the cityside before St Lachtain’s hit three points through Lydia Fitzpatrick (f) and Julianne Bergin (2f)

Laura Greene and Michelle Killeen then traded points to leave the interval score 0-11 to 0-6 in favour of O’Loughlins

On the resumption of play, Lydia Fitzpatrick converted a free for St Lachtain’s. O’Loughlins then added three points through Laura Murphy, Laura Greene and Aoife Shealy. Aoife’s point coming after Emma Poyntz had taken a shot from out on the sideline, it seemed to be going for the top corner, but goalie Sinead Farrell batted it out, Aoife was quickest to react and tapped it over the bar

Julianne Bergin and Lydia Fitzpatrick converted a free a piece for St Lachtain’s before O’Loughlins another three points through Aoife Shealy, Aisling Butler (f) and Laura Murphy. Lydia Fitzpatrick scored two points for St Lachtain’s to close out the scoring 0-17 to 0-11 in favour of the homeside
