Conahy 0-10

Barrow Rangers 1-4

Conahy Shamrocks are on their way to the Intermediate camogie county final after seeing off the challenge of Barrow Rangers

The ability to take scores from play is crucial in any game. Conahy got five of their total from play – Barrow Rangers failed to get any and therein lay their problem. Rangers made a lively start to the game but failed to make any ground until a pointed free from Colette Dormer put them in front for the only time in the fifth minute

Shortly after that Conahy’s Danielle Morrissey popped over a free for the first of her five first half points to tie the game

Morrissey then put her side ahead with another pointed free. Just before the water break Dormer levelled the match when she converted a free. After the break Morrissey, who was providing a  handful for the Rangers defence, popped over three unanswered points from play in a four minute spell, when her colleague Emma Mulhall added another to make it a four point lead daylight was beginning to creep in between the teams

Dormer landed a free to reduce the deficit, but before the half time whistle Mulhall added her second point from play to leave Conahy Shamrocks four in front (0-7 to 0-3)

A pointed Dormer free got the scoreboard ticking in the sixth minute of the second half. Two minutes later Meadbh Walsh restored Conahy’s four point lead

Incredibly the game would go another 21 minutes without a score. Both sides did have chances during this period, but scores were hard to come by. Mulhall eventually broke the barren spell when she landed her third point of the game

Morrissey followed with a pointed free to put six between the teams with only minutes remaining. Late in the game Rangers were awarded a free outside the 20 metre line. Goalkeeper Roisin Breen made the trek up field, her shot made its way to the net, but it was merely window dressing the scoreline. A minute later the match was brought to an end with Conahy deserving winners
