Aoife Prendergast put the Cats further ahead when she pointed a 30m free on 10 minutes

Kildare were struggling. They grabbed their first score 2 minutes later when Lea Sutton pointed a 20m free only for Katie Nolan to reply with a similar score for the homeside

The Noresiders extended their lead when Aoife Prendergast fired over after some great teamwork from defence. Kilkenny were 7 points clear after 20 minutes

Those exchanges left the home side leading by 0-9 to 0-2

When play resumed in the new half Kilkenny went about their business with intent. They added 3 quick points through Laura Murphy, Lydia Fitzpatrick and Katie Nolan from a 25m free

After a brief lull in the scoring, Lea Sutton had the Lilywhites first score of the half when she shot over a free. The winners replied with a well taken goal by Katie Nolan on 45 minutes to see them leading by 12 points entering the final quarter
