Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship

Kilkenny will play their fourth and final group match in the Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship on Sunday, 22^nd July in Nowlan Park at 2.30pm against the Tribes Women. Having a 100% record to date and sitting nicely on top of the table, a win will guarantee a top finish and automatic qualification for the All Ireland Semi Final next month. Galway are also on top of the table with nine points but with Kilkennys superior score difference they will have to beat Kilkenny to claim top spot whereas a draw will do Kilkenny. The rivalry with these two counties over the past number of years has been great to watch. Last year Kilkenny travelled to Galway knowing a victory in the last group game would guarantee them top spot and even though Galway are a formidable force at home Kilkenny got the job done. Earlier this year the sides met in the League Semi Final in Banagher where Kilkenny were put to the pin of their collar before coming out on top and then going on to win the League Final. It’s a home game for Kilkenny and they will be hoping for a big turnout to help push them over the line. It’s going to be interesting either way whichever team loses the game or even draw they will still be involved in this years Quarter Finals.

Liberty Insurance Intermediate Camogie Championship

The Intermediate team will hope to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Westmeath 2 weeks ago. Kilkenny will face Tipperary in John Locke Park, Callan to keep their All Ireland aspirations alive. Tipperary sit second in the Group just behind Galway with Kilkenny one point pack in 3rd on 6 points. With Galway playing Westmeath this weekend Kilkenny will be hoping for a victory against the premier women and with one game left against Galway on August 4th it is vital that the Kittens come away with the 3 points. Tipperary will be no pushovers having drawn with Galway in the first game and beating westmeath along the way before Antrim conceded to them it will be a competitive game to see. Will manager Aine Fahey have the team ready to go into battle, only time will tell.
