Intermediates have emphatic victory over Antrim

In Group 2 of the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship, Kilkenny beat Antrim by 17 points at John Lockes Park, Callan

Kilkenny flew out of the starting blocks as Edel Coonan pointed from play in the first minute. Edel then added another 1-1 in the 4^th & 5^th minute. Ciara Phelan put Kilkenny further ahead with a point in the 6^th minute

Then in the 9^th minute, Mary O’Connell (KK) scored a fortuitous goal, when she took a shot, the sliotar bounced in front of the Antrim goalie and flew over her head into the net, leaving the score Kilkenny 2-3 Antrim 0-0

Katie McAleese got Antrim off the mark with a point in the 14^th minute from a 21metre free. Eileen Fitzpatrick, Rachel Kelly (KK) and Katie McAleese (2f) traded points. Mary O’Connell extended the lead scoring another two points as half time approached, to leave the score Kilkenny 2-7 Antrim 0-3 at the break

On the resumption, the home side stretched their lead with three points through Ciara Phelan, Edel Coonan & Rachel Kelly (45’). Chloe Drain & Katie McAleese (f) narrowed the gap somewhat with two points. Mary O’Connell & Lucia McNaughton swapped points

Kilkenny put the icing on the cake, with the last three scores of the match with Rachel Kelly scoring a point and Edel Coonan firing home a rasper of a shot past the visitors keeper and then added a point from a free to leave the final score 3-14 to 0-6
