Leinster Under 16A Championship

Kilkenny              vs            Dublin

Venue: Kilkenny Venue TBC  Referee: TBC

The Kilkenny under 16 team get the defense of there Leinster title under way this Saturday when they entertain Dublin, in a repeat of last year’s provincial decider.

The teams are under new management with Damien Donohue, Helen Farrell, David Kent and Shauna Donohue taking over the reins this season and will be hoping to make a quick start to the campaign come Saturday. The management team will calling on the players from the very successful under 14 and 15 teams from recents seasons and also can call on some seasoned campaigners at this level.

The last time the two teams met was in the provisional decider where Kilkenny won out on a 3-09 to 1-07. The teams met previous to this in the group stages where Dublin staged gallant second half comeback to secure the victory 3-08 to 0-12 score line.

Dublin are making great strides at under age camogie and Kilkenny are fully aware of the threat the Metropolitans will pose on Saturday as last year’s group stages proved. In saying this I expect a Kilkenny victory on Saturday but expect a tough tight encounter and a game not to be missed.

Leinster Under 16B Championship Group 2

Kildare          vs            Kilkenny

Venue: Kildare Venue TBC  Referee: TBC

The Kilkenny under 16 B team are also in action this weekend when they travel up the M9 to take on Kildare. The teams are also under new management this year with Barry Atkins, Con Dooley and Mary Ryall taking over the team this season.

The teams were very unlucky last season to lose out in the semi final stages to Westmeath after extra time after a cracking encounter and they will be going all out to begin their championship bid with an away victory on Saturday.

Kilkenny will be fully aware of what Kildare will bring to the table on Saturday having playing them at under 14 and under 15 level in recent season.  I feel Kilkenny could have too much for the Lilywhites on Saturday and claim the opening round win but a cracking game is on the cards.
