by PRO on the 21st of June 2015
It was a busy weekend for six Kilkenny club sides with there under 14 teams involved in Feile action. Two Kilkenny clubs were involved in National Feile action with St Fiachra’s and Paulstown / Goresbridge travelling North. St Fiachra’s travelled to Co. Antrim where they competed in Division one of the Feile where they recorded two good victories over Kilruane Mac Donaghs and Cuchullains Dunloy and were unlucky to come up short against last year’s champions Loughgiel. With these performances they qualified for the Quarter Finals and were unlucky to come up short against St Vincent’s of Dublin by a point. Paulstown / Goresbridge travelled to Co. Tyrone and competed in Division 5 where they finished second in there group having recorded two wins over Éire Óg and The Loup and two narrow losses to Castleblayney and Cois Fharraige Aontaithe which qualified them for the shield semi final. In the semi finals they defeated Flipadeoiri of Longford 1-00 to no score. This victory set up a final showdown with Borrisleigh where they recorded a 0-06 to 1-00 victory, a great win for the side.
In the Regional Feile competitions the Kilkenny sides were very unlucky, Piltown travelled to Portarlington in Laois and were unlucky not too progress through having put in some brave performances but just came up short in the end. Thomastown travelled to Tipperary where they qualified for the Downey Cup final but just came up short against Gailltir of Waterford. It was a great weekend of camogie action with Kilkenny sides putting in some terrific performances and even though some teams just came up short they should be very proud of their endeavours and they done there clubs and county very proud. The future of Kilkenny Camogie is well and truly in save hands.
