Therese Muldowney the hero as Kilkenny edge Cork at the Death

Therese Muldowney was the hero of the hour as she goaled in the fourth minute of injury time to seal victory at the death to seal a league semi final sport for the Kilkenny intermediate team on a 1-12 to 0-13 point score line.
Cork started the game brightly and raced into a 0-02 points to no score in the third minute. Kilkenny responded with a point in the fifth minute before Sarah Ann Quinlan equalised the contest in the eight minute. Kilkenny then got three points on the trot from Rebecca Cleere in the 10th minute, Aisling Butler in the thirteen minute and a further Sarah Ann Quinlan point a minute later to edge Kilkenny three points clear 0-05 point to 0-02. Cork responded with three points on the trot to equalise the contest at five points apiece in the twenty second minute. Cork went ahead again when they pointed in the twenty fourth minute before Sarah Ann Quinlan who was in terrific form equalised the contest in the twenty fifth minute. Cork then got two points on the trot to edge themselves ahead 0-08 pint to 0-06 at the break.
Laura Hegarty opened Kilkenny’s second half account with a point in the thirty sixth minute. Cork responded well with four points on the bounce to race into a 0-12 points to 0-07 lead after forty nine minutes. Sarah Ann Quinlan narrowed the gap to four points when she pointed in the fifty fourth minute. Cork responded with a point a minute later, there last point of the game. Kilkenny then went on a devastating run where they scored 1-04 without reply. Sarah Anne Quinlan started the run with a free in the fifty sixth minute. Ruth Jones then pointed a minute later to cut the deficit to three points. Laura Hegarty then pointed in the fifty eight minute to cut the gap to two points 0-13 to 0-11. Aisling Butler pointed in the sixtieth minute to cut the gap to the minimum 0-13 points to twelve. It was looking that Kilkenny might come up short and miss out on qualification for the semi finals. Therese Muldowney had other things on her mind when she goaled in the fourth minute of injury time to seal the win and secure a League semi final spot against Laois in two weeks time on a 1-12 to 0-13 points score line.
