Kilkenny minors edge Tipperary, Under 16 A too strong for Faithfull, Dublin edge out Under 16 B side

The Kilkenny minor camogie team made it three wins from three when they edged out Tipperary in a thriller in The Ragg on Sunday.

Tipperary started the game the brighter and race into a three point to no score lead in the opening thirteen minutes.  Kilkenny were awarded a penalty in the fifteen minute but Chloe Blackmore’s effort was saved and Tipperary cleared there lines. Kelly Ann Doyle opened Kilkenny’s account with a well taken score in the twentieth minute to make it 0-03 points to 0-01.  Tipperary extended their lead to three points just before half time to see the m lead 0-04 points to 0-01 at the break to end a good opening half for the hosts.

Kilkenny began the second half well and got the dream start when Jenny Clifford goaled to equalised the contest in the thirty second minute at 0-04 points to 1-01.  Tipperary bounced back well to this early concession and got a goal of their own in the thirty third minute to put them into the lead again by three points 1-04 to 1-01.  Kellyann Doyle cut the gap to two points  for the victors with a excellent point in the thirty fifth minute before Chloe Blackmore got in for Kilkenny second goal an excellent score a  minute later to put Kilkenny ahead for the first time in the contest  2-02 to 1-04 after thirty six minutes.  Tipperary responded with a point in the thirty eight minute to level the contest.  Chloe Blackmore then got two points on the trot for the Cats, the first came from a forty five in the fifty minute before she tapped over a point from play in the fifty sixth minute to see Kilkenny go into a two point lead 2-04 to 1-05 going into the final four minutes. Tipperary responded with a point in the last minute of normal time to ensure a nervy finish to the contest. Ciara Phelan responded for Kilkenny with a point in injury time to see Kilkenny edge out there neighbours on a 2-05 to 1-06 score line to ensure their unbeaten record in this year’s All Ireland series remains intact.

 Leinster U16A Championship

Kilkenny 5-16 Offaly 4-05

The under 16 A camogie team recorded their second win of the campaign yesterday when they defeated Offaly in Clara.  Kilkenny were too strong for the Faithful County as they defeated them on a 5-16 to 4-05 score line. This victory would almost guarantee Kilkenny’s safe passage through to the Leinster Final

 Leinster U16B Championship

Dublin 3-06  Kilkenny 2-07

The Under 16B team were unlucky to be edged out by Dublin in DCU on Sunday. This game was to decide who would finish top of the table with both teams certain of a semi final date. Kilkenny were missing a few players due to injury and will hopefully have them back for the semi finals.
