AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL INVOLVED WITH INTERMEDIATE, MINOR AND U16 COUNTY TEAMS

by on the 23rd of October 2020

To all of the above,

The directive received this week which resulted in the pausing or ending of your county competitions for 2020 came as a huge disappointment to you all. I know the time, effort and commitment which you have all given since this time last year in order to prepare for 2020 and for that, I thank you sincerely.

Kilkenny Camogie is very lucky to have the calibre of athletes such as yourselves, who are always willing to give 100% to the improvement and betterment of your game and the sport in general. If there is one thing that sport will always teach you, it is that things will not always go your way. Sport teaches us to overcome the obstacles and strive for a better future.

While Covid 19 has proven to be a very strong adversary, disrupting the plans and dreams of millions of people worldwide, I know that you will all get mentally stronger from these setbacks and will conquer the sporting world in years to come.

I want to publicly thank Aine Fahey, Seamus Kelly and Mike Wall, managers of the three teams.  The manner in which they and their various backroom teams were preparing their teams was exemplary with no detail left to chance. I wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.

Sheila Norris,

Chairperson, Kilkenny Camogie
