A fine display helped Young Irelands (Gowran) claim their first piece of Intermediate silverware, when beating Conahy Shamrocks in the League Final

The first four points were shared equally between Steffi Fitzgerald (YI) and Danielle Morrissey (CS), but the Gowran side dominated the remainder of the first half as Steffi Fitzgerald (4) and Grace O’Donnell shot them into a strong lead (0-7 to 0-2)

The second half got off to a slow start but burst into life when Grace O’Donnell picked up a sideline ball and drilled it to the Conahy net

Gowran grew in confidence, tacking on 1-5 without reply, through Steffi Fitzgerald (0-2, 1 free), Amy Lennon (0-1), Paula Farrell (0-2) and Grace O’Donnell (1-0), who unleashed a rasping shot that flew in (2-13 to 0-3)

As full time approached, Danielle Morrissey pulled a goal back for Conahy but Rebecca Nevin’s  point helped Young Irelands seal victory
