Minors easily defeat Limerick and secure final spot

The Kilkenny minor camogie team booked there place in the All Ireland final on Saturday next when they easily accounted for reigning champions Limerick on a 3-11 0-06 points score line in Birr on Saturday.
Limerick started the game brightly and opened the scoring from a Caoimhe Lyons point in the first minute. Sarah Kent opened the scoring for the victors with a free from fifty meters in the third minute. Sarah Walsh then tapped over a point in the fifth minute after latching onto a Kellyann Doyle pass. Rebecca Noonan equalised for Limerick with a free in the seventh minute. Sarah Kent responded with a free in the eight minute for the Cats, before Caoimhe Lyons equalised the tie at three points apiece in the twentieth minute. Kilkenny then got two points on the bounce from a Sarah Kent free in the thirteenth minute before Jenny O’Neill tapped over a free a minute later. Rebecca Noonan then responded with a point for Limerick in the seventieth minute to cut the gap to the minimum. Kilkenny closed out the half with three points on the bounce. Jenny O’Neill started the run with a free in the twenty fifth minute after Edel Coonan was fouled. Jenny Clifford then pointed from play in the twenty seventh minute, before Sarah Kent tapped over a further free in the thirtieth minute to see Kilkenny lead 0-08 points to 0-04 at the break.
Kilkenny made the dream start to the new half when Edel Coonan goaled in the thirty second minute after latching onto a Sarah Walsh cross to blast home from close range. Caoimhe Lyons responded to this concession with a point in the thirty fifth minute. Kilkenny then struck for their second goal in the forty first minute when a Ciara Phelan shot from twenty one meters deceived the Limerick keeper and went straight to the roof of the net to push Kilkenny 2-08 to 0-05 points clear. Megan O’Mara then pointed for Limerick in the forty third minute in what was to be there last score in the game. Kilkenny closed out the contest with 1-03 without reply. Second half sub Chloe Blackmore started the run with a free in the fifty third minute after Sarah Walsh was fouled. Sarah Walsh then pointed in the fifty fourth minute from thirty five meters. Kelly Ann Doyle then pointed in the fifty ninth minute and Kilkenny were home and hosed. Jenny Clifford put the icing on the cake for the Cats when she goaled in the thirty first minute after latching on to a rebound from a Sarah Walsh goal bound shot to bat home from fourteen meters to seal the final spot. Kilkenny will now play Tipperary in the final on Saturday next 25th April in St Brendan’s park Birr at 2.30pm.
